Property Maintenance Service Schedule

Spring Cleanup (mid March – April)

The spring cleanup includes:

·        Blow out and removal of leaves and debris from flower beds

·        Mowing and trimming the lawn

·        Disposal of debris material

To help the lawn green up faster in the spring, apply 1 inch of water to the entire lawn after the cleanup is completed, especially if the soil is very dry. The spring cleanup will not remove thatch and many small bits of leaf and dead grass may remain.

We usually incorporate De-thatching/power-raking on most properties for an additional charge.

Early booking is advised as our capacity is limited by our short spring season.

Aeration & Seeding - Spring & Fall

An annual deep core aeration of the lawn is strongly recommended! Core aeration controls and reduces thatch and promotes a healthier, thicker lawn by allowing air, water, and nutrients to reach the lawn's root system.

Fertilizer and Weed Control Programs

Regular balanced feeding is essential to the continuous, even growth of the lawn throughout the season. Regular monitoring and control of weeds and pests ensure continued health of the lawn.

Weekly Maintenance (mid-April to end Oct. /early Nov.)

Most lawns on Long Island are a blend of Kentucky Bluegrass for best appearance, and Creeping Red Fescue for better drought and shade tolerance. Both grass species are best cut at 2.5 to 3 inches in height. Shorter mowing results in weaker, thinner stands of turf with more weeds and less stress tolerance.

We mow lawns at 2.5 to 3 inches high all season and sharpen mower blades daily to keep your lawn at its best. We also change the direction of the cut regularly to prevent the formation of wheel tracks in the lawn.

Mulching the clippings and leaving them on the lawn helps to conserve water and return organic material and nutrients to the lawn. We begin mulching after the fast growth period of the spring begins to slow down by about June.

The job is not complete until we have blown the clippings off walks and drives, closed gates and noted any conditions that need attention.

Hedge Trimming    (June, August, October)

Flower Bed Maintenance (May to October)

This service is available to weekly mowing customers only, and a bed cleanup and mulch application will be required before we maintain the beds for the rest of the season. At each visit we inspect the flowerbeds, remove any weeds and loose debris, as necessary. (This service is an additional charge to weekly mowing)

Fall Cleanup (November thru early December)

This service includes the combination of recycling as well as removal of leaves and loose debris from the lawn and beds and a final lawn mowing. We mow the lawn to about 2 inches in height to remove as much loose debris as possible and to prevent snow mold.

Snow Removal (December 1 -  March 31 within Western Suffolk only)

For a flat monthly fee, we automatically clean the snow from sidewalks and driveways each time it snows to prevent ice buildup. During continuous days of snowfall, we include one visit in each 24-hour period. Extra call outs and removing ice that has formed on walks due to water runoff will be charged extra.
